Tech Forum Event Showcases Promising Technologies
GeoSwap App Helps Brand Delaware Travel
Several exhibitors were in the health care arena, including 17-year-old Chase Reid who attends Tatnall School.
Reid, who has been researching artificial intelligence and Christian Ho demonstrated an algorithm that could sharply reduce the number of false positives in breast cancer diagnoses.
Reid is currently crunching data provided by a German hospital to determine whether the algorithm works. In a quick demonstration, an analysis of correctly determined the the tumor was malignant
GeoSwap was one of the innovators featured at Tech Forum's Technologies to Watch Showcase earlier this month.
The Delaware Tourism Office and Delaware State Parks have partnered with GeoSwap, a location-based app created by University of Delaware students, to help brand popular Delaware destinations and events.
The app allows users to share information about places and events happening around them through an interactive map. It also encourages storytelling and placemaking through features like “GeoStories,” which are mashup videos about a given city.
Join Open Data Delaware for their weekend-long hackathon, starting on June 2nd, based around the simple idea: Access to Hope through Innovation. From this idea, two nonprofit partners will present challenges that teams will solve. The Food Bank of Delaware and Network Delaware were selected at Tech Forum's Idea Challenge in March as this year's nonprofit partners.
Teams will compete to prototype solutions to the provided challenges. Two teams will be selected as the winners (1st and 2nd place) and awarded grants to help them finish their ideas over time to produce something useable for our entire community.
Join Tech Forum and PADLA (Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey Distance Learning Association) for an exploration of the technologies behind sustainable competencies. Insights will be shared into how technologies such as micro learning, non-degrees, badging, gamification, and e-portfolios are being implemented together to drive credentialing, and ultimately sustainable competencies, for corporate and higher education.
John Royer, founder of Insitehub, will discuss the concept of Micro Credentialing. Representatives from Wilmington University will conduct tours of their gamification lab, learning technologies lab, and discuss details of their Collaborative Work Program.
