 Tech Talks focus on present and future

Technology Forum of Delaware took a broad look at technology and its implications at its Tech Talks session Wednesday night.

Speakers were:

Rod Wallace, president, Design Economics

Wallace discussed the disconnect between technology and taking care of people. He cited the example of a patient and disastrous visit to the emergency room and hospital. The patient recovered, but relatives complained about her treatment.

Erik Gudmundson is an experienced leader in the field of IT service delivery. Starting work at a local Internet Service Provider and supporting users of university computer networks as the general public began using the Internet for the first time in the 1990s, Erik gained deep insight into the possibilities and perils organizations face in today’s world of ubiquitous computing. Today Erik is responsible for designing, proposing, implementing, and supporting cloud, on-premise, and hybrid IT solutions in computer-dependent business environments. As a trusted advisor to his clients, he communicates solutions and pitfalls/workarounds effectively. His experience building and maintaining teams of 20 personnel makes him a seasoned manager.

Jim Doyle is the Office Managing Partner for BDO Wilmington and has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. He works with a diverse client base made up of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants, private-equity-backed, family-owned businesses, and large nonprofit organizations. He also works with several multinational clients reporting under both U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting and reporting standards.
