Ryan Harrington
Director of Strategy and Operations for the Data Innovation Lab (DIL) at Tech Impact.
Mission Driven AI: Scaling Community Impact

The Data Innovation Lab at Tech Impact partners with mission driven organizations - from governments to nonprofits - in order to build data products for social good.

Mission driven organizations need to optimize limited resources in order to maximize their impact. AI and machine learning provide a vehicle to allow organizations to grow their impact, but it requires capacity building - rich data, appropriate tools, and capable talent.

The Data Innovation Lab at Tech Impact helps mission-driven organizations scale their impact by addressing these needs.
We answer questions about how to get the right resource to the right person at the right time using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
About Ryan
As director of Strategy and Operations Harrington focuses on developing data science projects for social good.

Previously, Ryan was the lead data scientist at CompassRed Data Labs, a data science and analytics consulting firm where his focus was on developing models using a combination of statistical methods and machine learning techniques.

Outside of work, he co-founded and co-organized Open Data Delaware, an organization dedicated to improving data transparency within government institutions and applying data and technology to solve civic problems.

Jim Lee
Founder of StratFI
Forecasting Daily Moves in the Stock Market up to Five Years in Advance
The investment industry was an early adopter of AI and automated trading.  It's a very quantitative business.  The first "robo-advisors" arrived around 2010. Today, the ten largest mutual funds all run algorithmically-based strategies.

I've applied machine learning to forecast daily moves in the stock market up to five years in advance.  This strategy won a national competition for market timers in 2021, and is currently ranked #1 out of 500 within its category in the Morningstar database (ranked by 5-year actual returns).
StratFI is a small Delaware firm that "punches above its weight" while managing $75m of client assets. The only way we can do this is through automation.  I've also used AI to simulate the effects of various macro events on client portfolios and identify emerging trends based on data from social media.
About Jim
Jim Lee is an award-winning investment strategist and futurist with over 30 years of experience. He is also the founder of StratFI, a boutique investment advisory firm that focuses on “What happens next?”
Jim holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.
