Tim Day

Wilmington University
Director of Computer Science, Communications & Digital Media

The first thing you need to know about Tim is that asking him to write a bio about himself is a tall task. Tim likes wearing multiple hats and the occasional princess crown if he is home playing with his two daughters. In 2012, he joined Wilmington University as an adjunct instructor in the Digital Filmmaking program. Now, as the Director of Computer Science, Communications, and Digital Media, he works side-by-side with a team of academic program chairs to provide quality education and bring innovation to the College of Technology.

Tim is a storyteller. At 12 years old, he and his cousin stol…borrowed his Aunt’s video camera to figure out how to make movies. Even more so, he also loves to listen to others’ stories. Before joining Wilmington University Tim was the owner and video guru of Blackscreen Productions. Tim started Blackscreen Productions and has completed videos for clients such as Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, ChristianaCare Healthcare, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Police Athletic League (PAL), and many happy couples while tying the knot. At Wilmington University, Tim has helped students produce videos for New Castle County Executive’s Office, Senator Coon’s Office, the YWCA, New Castle County Police, and many more. Tim was also the Co-Director of the Derek Freese & Diamond Screen Film Festivals in Philadelphia, PA.

He prides himself in bringing the problem-solving and creative thinking he gained while working in video production to leadership and strategic planning. Tim has earned a B.S. in Electronic Media & Film from Towson University, MFA in Film & Media Arts from Temple University and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership. Tim is passionate about building quality educational pathways that lead students to successful careers. His dissertation focused on evaluating the Digital Communications Technology Pathway between Wilmington University and the Delaware Department of Education.
